Gift cards are one of the most popular purchases in America. In 2007, shoppers spent $97 billion on gift cards, an increase of nearly 17 percent from the previous year. (National Federation of Retailers) For retailers, gift cards have distinct advantages. When customers redeem gift cards, they spend an average 1.4 times the amount on the card. Additionally, about 10 percent of the total value of gift cards goes unused every year, netting retailers billions of dollars. Gift cards can also be used to issue refunds. This ensures that the money returned to the customer does not cost the merchant, while potentially increasing sales by encouraging the customer to return to the store. InvenTrak will provide you with the technology and promotional tools needed to take advantage of this exciting business prospect. With two gift card processors to choose from, as well as excellent CRM capabilities, InvenTrak will help you to promote the integration of gift cards into your business. |

Having Smart Transaction Systems as our default gift card provider allows merchants to process cards directly through their POS system, minimizing employee training and accelerating the purchasing process. STS is used for sales transactions, credit/activation transactions and balance inquiry transactions. The STS settings are established in the CAS and assigned to the POS, where they can also be modified. |

While TCC is not our default gift card provider, InvenTrak is flexible and handles their service as a premium feature. TCC is used for sales transactions and balance inquiries. The TCC settings are established through the CAS and assigned to the POS, where they can be modified as well. |

Through InvenTrak, activating gift cards is as simple as one swipe. The gift card is equipped with a bar code so that it may easily scan as any regular item. Once the card has been paid for, the cashier need only swipe the gift card, and the gift card number will be generated automatically. From there, enter the transaction number (found by looking on the receipt of the gift card that had been purchased), and the gift card will be activated! Entering the transaction number allows the company to verify that the amount being added to the gift card is the same as the amount being purchased and extra money has not been added. |
